Honest about what I can and can't do

What happens in the call

This is not a legal advice session. It is a short, direct conversation to figure out whether you have a matter I can help with and what your realistic options are.

You describe your situation — the order, notice, dispute, or question you are dealing with
I tell you whether it falls within what I practice and which forum or process applies
I give you an honest read on the strength of your position and what the process looks like from here
If there are deadlines I know about, I will flag them — many orders have short appeal windows
If it is not something I handle, I will tell you that too and point you in a better direction
No pressure to retain — you decide what you want to do with the information

How to prepare

The call is short, so having a few things in front of you helps.

The order, notice, or letter you received — the document that started the problem
The date it was issued and any deadline it mentions
A short summary of what happened — you do not need to have it polished, just the key facts
Any prior correspondence with the municipality, corporation, tribunal, or other party

If you have not received a formal document yet but are anticipating a problem, that is fine too. Early calls are often more useful than calls after a deadline has passed.
